Purpose of the program
The newly established Arnold Palmer Scholarship (APS) are funded by by The Arnold and Winnie Palmer Foundation and four members of The Alotian Club.
Recipients for the APS will be chosen by the ASGA and The First Tee of Central Arkansas.
Eligibility Requirements
A scholarship recipient must be:
- Arnold Palmer scholars must attend college in the State of Arkansas.
- For Arnold Palmer and ASGA Scholars-A senior student attending high school in Arkansas or who is a full-time Arkansas resident with a 3.0 GPA or higher
Responsibility and Criteria for Selection
The committees of First Tee-Central Arkansas and ASGA will select The Arnold Palmer Scholarship award recipients on the basis of character, personality, leadership qualities, scholastic achievement, ability, financial need, and other criteria they deem necessary, including an in-person interview.
Amount and Payment of Scholarship Awards
Two males and two females will be awarded a one-year Arnold Palmer scholarship of $5,000 each with a $2,500 payment made each semester of the academic year for which the scholarship is awarded.
Rules for Scholarship Recipients
Scholarship recipients will conduct all negotiations regarding admission to their chosen institution of higher learning. They must be accepted and enrolled during the semester for which the award is granted.
Any delay or acceleration in a student’s normal academic program must be approved by the committee on the basis of a written request from the student.
All requests for transfer must be submitted in writing for approval by the committee.
Scholars are required to furnish, and authorize their institutions to furnish any information the committee deems necessary in the management of this program.
The Arnold Palmer Scholarship is for one year and not renewable, but some of the ASGA scholarships are renewable based on the student maintaining a cumulative 2.75 GPA. Students are required to furnish, and authorize their institution to furnish any information the committee deems necessary in the management of these scholarships.
Application Procedures
Applications should be submitted no later than June 3, 2023 via email, USPS or express mail. Finalist for the Arnold Palmer Scholarship will have an in-person, videotaped interview prior to the announcement of winners.
Applications will preferably be typed (though hand written is allowed).
Prospective applicants are strongly encouraged to begin working on completing the application requirements as soon as possible.
Students are required to submit all the information required as set forth on the cover page of this application.
